Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim. In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. Al-salam 'alaykum wa-rahmat Allah wa barakatuhu kulluhu. May all the peace, the beneficence, and the blessing of God be upon us all.

Enclosed is a copy of "The Father's Prayer of Shaikh Muhyaddeen" immediately followed by a "Brief History of the Development of The Father's Prayer".

My love you (anbu), my dearest brothers and sisters  - Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler).

1.  "The Father's Prayer" of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen

Oh our Father, our Shaikh, our Guru,
          we need your love,
please, please, please destroy us and reveal You.

Destroy us as "separate from" You and You as "separate from" us,
and reveal us as "One with" You and You as "One with" us.

Destroy the life of "separation and differences" that You have given us,
and reveal the Life of "Oneness and Unity", of "Justice and Truth"
and of "Compassion and Unity" that You have also given us.

          Amen, Amen, Ya Rabil Alameen.
          Amen, Amen, Ya Rahman Alameen.
          Amen, Amen, Ya Rahim Alameen.
          Al-hamdu lillah.  Allahu Akbar.

2. Brief History of the Development of "The Father's Prayer"

In 1972 a brother came to see Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him) from California, and after reading the unpublished book, "The 10 Mystical Experiences" of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), he asked Bawa if he could publish them, after telling Bawa, that these experiences by Bawa were the most amazing thing that he had ever read, and that the whole world needed to hear them, and that they demonstrated the truly exalted state of Bawa, that Bawa was directly connected to God.

Then Bawa told the brother from California that he couldn't publish the book, "The 10 Mystical Experiences", that only One in the state of "The 10 Mystical Experiences" could do that work, could successfully publish that book and introduce it to the world, and suggested that instead he should publish an English version of the published book, "The Resonance of Allah", by Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him).

But the brother from California didn't seem interested in doing that and kept insisting that he be permitted to publish "The 10 Mystical Experience", but Bawa kept telling him that he couldn't and kept suggesting that he take on the task of publishing the English version of "The Resonance of Allah".  Then Bawa told him not to try and publish "The Resonance of Allah" all at once, but rather that it would be better if he published it chapter by chapter, and then once it was all published in that format, he should then republish it as a complete book.

Then Bawa gave the brother from California the name, "Shaikh Hamid", and told him to return to California and raise his students to a good state (the brother apparently was a teacher and had a group of students trying to follow his teachings in California).

Upon hearing this the brother from California seemed very surprised by Bawa's suggestion, and then said to Bawa,

          "How can I do that?"

And Bawa seemed surprised at his response, paused for a moment, and then told him the following,

          "But you have Me."

Even with this encouragement from Bawa the brother still seemed very unsure of himself, to do any of the thing that Bawa seemed to be telling him so naturally to now do.

Then Bawa told the brother that He would give him a prayer to say, which he should say everyday, that would strengthen him on the path of God, and allow him to do all of the things Bawa had told him to do, and the prayer that Bawa gave him to say each day was the following.

"Oh my Father, my Shaikh, my Guru,
          I need your love,
          please, please, please destroy me."

Upon hearing this discourse by Bawa in 1980, this child, Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler), started saying this prayer each day, and then at each time of prayer, and then many, many times each day, before and after engaging in anything, and gradually after twenty some years of saying this prayer in this manner, this prayer started to expand within this child.

After sharing this prayer with many, many brothers and sisters at the Fellowship over the years, especially with our good sister Usha one night in 2000, who's clarity seem to immediately move this prayer forward into the present form shared above, this prayer started to expand into a dichotomy (a division or the process of dividing into two especially mutually exclusive or contradictory groups or entities).

And especially after hearing a discourse by Bawa in which Bawa told a very close disciple of His who was also one of the main translators of Bawa's songs and discourses (Professor Ajwad Macan-Markar), in response to a question by Ajwad,

"Bawa, where are my good thoughts?"

And Bawa's response,

"Your good thoughts are within your bad thoughts."

In this way, my dearest loving brothers and sisters, True Man or the life of "us" as "One with" God, has been hidden by God within us, within false man within us, within our current life of "us" as "separate from" God, has been hidden by God within the life of false man that we are currently experiencing as "us" and all of our brothers and sisters living in the world that we see in our ignorance as existing "outside" of us.

And God within us has been hidden by God within our wisdom, within our Shaikh within us, within True Man within us, as the apple tree is hidden within the apple seed, and the apple fruit is hidden within the apple tree.

In this way, my dearest loving brothers and sisters, this child began to realize that,

"A good thought is any of God's thoughts, as True Man within us,
and a bad though is any of our thoughts, as false man within us."

And this understanding was reinforced after listening over and over again to another beautiful discourse by Bawa on 4/6/85, where God within Bawa explains to us, to His Children for this age, for this age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him),

"I have given each of you two different forms of life,
a life of "oneness with" Me,
and a life of "separation from" Me.
          The choice is yours."

Then in the spring of 2002 this prayer that was originally given to our brother from California in 1972 by Bawa, to Shaikh Hamid, became the "Father's Prayer", within the heart of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler), which this child has been saying and sharing every since with many, many brothers and sisters at the Fellowship, and in many of the Spiritual Letters and Spiritual Chats that we have been sharing with you over the internet.
